Karen left, Janelle right...

Hi everyone, it's Karen here :o) I just wanted to add a few little words to this post for today.
I've had a bit of a rough time over the last couple of days (see my blog if you are interested) and Nellie has been the most wonderful friend to me...she always is, but over the last couple of days I don't know how I would have made it through ir it weren't for her support and guidance. She is a HUGE support to me and I would be so very lost if I didn't have her! So Nellie, I found this little poem and have added it here for you, and for all of you out there to share with your own friends too. I hope you enjoy it :o)

A true friend is someone you hold dear
Someone who is always there, through thick and thin
Someone who is only a phone call or email or instant message away.
A true friend is someone you can always rely on
Someone who is there to share your thoughts with
Someone to listen, no matter the subject.
A true friend is someone you can feel comfortable with
Someone you can sit silently beside, without conversation
Someone you do not need to fill the quiet moments with.
A true friend is someone you can trust
Someone who will guard your deepest secrets
Someone who will never let you down.
A true friend is someone who is not judgmental
Someone who will gently offer advice and opinions,
Yet, someone who is not overbearing or critical.
A true friend is someone who can keep you grounded
Someone who can help you see through your obstacles
Someone to shoulder you through life's trials.
A true friend is someone who shares unconditionally
Someone to laugh and to cry with
Someone to lean on, through both the good and the bad.
A true friend.... is what you are to me.
I am truly blessed to have such an angel in my life.

Thank you for being there for me, my beautiful friend :o)
Love Karen xoxo

Karen left and Janelle right...

Welcome!

This is us, two friends - Karen (left) and Janelle (right). We *found* each other online in 2005 through our mutual obsession for scrapbooking and quickly developed a very special friendship through our shared conversations about our craft and our families...discussing the usual things that two friends and mothers do :o)

But, by no means do we have a *typical* friendship. We can't catch up with each other for coffee whenever we feel like it, go shopping together, or have our children play together at each others houses while we scrap and chat happily. In fact, even though we have been friends for 18 months, we have physically met only once.

Why???

While we both live in this land we love called Australia, we are separated by distance...1116kms of distance...1116kms of dirt and trees and brick and bitumen road. Still, our friendship survives...and it continues to grow and thrive every day. We have emails and phone calls to chat through instead, and we both have blogs of our own through which we can share our photos and scrapbooking. We make the best of it :o) So...this little blog is a continuation of that friendship. It's another means by which we can communicate and share our everyday lives with each other; you know, those little things that make us...well,*us*.

But it's more than that...

It's a visual record of two friends living their lives in separate and very different parts of Australia. It's an avenue through which we can both hone our photography skills. It's a way in which we can inspire others who may be separated from their own friends by distance to continue their relationships. It's a way for us to share our daily happenings with our respective friends and family members around the country, and to make new friends along the way. And, it's a display of womanhood, motherhood, strength, solidarity, support, nurturing, and love...it's a display of mundane things, sometimes sad things, happy things, exciting things, and fun things (can't forget that!). No two posts will be the same, that's for sure!

Explore. Enjoy.

And thank you for sharing our journey through our friendship with us - we'll be back with more soon :o)
